Song #6 - Where Have You Been?
What can I say? I’m in love!
I am excited about this one. I found myself singing the chorus after meeting my girlfriend, Alexandra, last summer and I had a lot of fun putting these verses together this week. I find myself whistling and singing it a lot, so it could be a pop gem — but I’m biased :)
I know I haven’t completely stuck the landing on the bridge yet, but it will get there. I tried multiple versions while recording and none totally got it right. I want the bridge to build and crescendo and then hit the naked piano before the big final chorus — think a Sarah Bareilles style breakdown. I bet some lyric tweaks might help make it work, but it also might need a new melody. This bridge is a good placeholder though so you can feel where I’m heading.
